Cadillac has quietly introduced the facelifted 2020 XT5 in China.
Looking instantly recognizable, the updated model has a modestly revised grille which eschews horizontal bars. Further below, we can see a revised lower air intake and a wider chrome accent on higher end variants.
Further back, the model has been equipped with new mirrors and a revised rear spoiler. These changes help to improve aerodynamics, while also making the 2020 XT5 “quieter and more comfortable” than its predecessor.
As with the CT5 and XT6, there will be Luxury and Sport variants. Luxury models have bright Galvano exterior accents, while Sport variants adopt gloss black accents.
Cadillac didn’t say much about the interior, but they confirmed the model has an updated CUE infotainment system which can be accessed by a new rotary controller. The crossover also has a new 14-speaker Bose audio system and upgraded rear seats which can slide back and forth up to 5.5 inches (140 mm).
In China, the XT5 will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that features cylinder deactivation technology. Cadillac didn’t release detailed specifications, but they confirmed the engine produces 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque and is connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission. This enables the crossover to have a combined fuel consumption rating of 31.3 mpg US (37.6 mpg UK / 7.5 L/100 km).

Elsewhere, the model has “14 upgraded active and passive safety features.” Cadillac says these include an upgraded body structure and an automatic braking system that can detect objects up to 197 feet (60 meters) in front of the crossover. The vehicle also boasts a digital rearview mirror, automatic parking assist, lane change alert with side blind zone alert and lane keep assist with lane departure warning.
There’s no word on when the US-spec XT5 will be introduced, but it will likely feature many of the same upgrades.
