2020 Mitsubishi L200 Arrives In The UK With £21,515 Base Price

The facelifted Mitsubishi L200 pickup has reached UK shores and it brings a bolder look, powertrain updates, and more tech than ever.

The L200 Series 6 is now on sale in Great Britain with a starting price of £21,515 (approximately $26k at today’s exchange rates), excluding VAT. That’s the only price announced so far, and it concerns the entry-level 4Life Club Cab.

Styling-wise, the facelifted L200 adopts the brand’s “Dynamic Shield” identity at the front, a raised bonnet, squared-off wheel arches, LED headlights and LED DRLs, as well as 18-inch alloys on most trim levels.

Inside, the updated pickup truck gains revised seating with improved bolstering, a chunkier steering wheel with heating function, improved cabin storage and new instrumentation, including a full-color LCD display.

Most of the updates are actually under the skin, though, as the 2020 L200 introduces “car-like levels of driving refinement and state-of-the-art safety systems to the segment,” according to the automaker. Mitsubishi also claims the 2020 L200 offers “the practicality and versatility of a pick-up without compromising on comfort, driving pleasure or running costs.”

The L200 adopts a new 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel. Technically, it can be considered a 2.3-liter because it has a 2,268-cc displacement, but whatever… Mated to a new six-speed automatic transmission, it’s said to deliver lower emissions and improved fuel efficiency “resulting in significant fuel savings in the real world.”

No specs have been released, though, so we have to assume the engine makes 150 PS (148 hp) as in the rest of Europe. The updated L200 also features a significantly upgraded Super Select 4WD-II system which adds a new Off Road Mode that offers Gravel, Mud/Snow, Sand, and Rock settings.

In addition to these changes, the L200 features larger brakes all-round on most versions as well as a revised suspension for improved ride comfort and handling. Mind you, this is still a pickup truck, so the L200 also brings an increased payload of 1,080 kg (2,381 lbs) compared to its predecessor and gross train weight of 6,155kg (13,569 lbs).

Finally, an array of driving assistance systems, such as Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist function, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Mitigation and more, have been added to the equipment list.
