Aston Martin To Open DBX Orders Next Month

Aston Martin will open the order books for its upcoming DBX SUV at next month’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance during Monterey Car Week in California, Autocar reports.

The British performance SUV recently celebrated its public dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the company has chosen Pebble Beach as the location to start taking orders for the DBX. Given the love for high-end SUVs in the United States and the extraordinary wealth around each annual Monterey Car Week, this isn’t a surprise.

The Aston Martin DBX will be officially presented to the world in December but it remains to be seen at what auto show the car will be first put on display.

Aston Martin has bold ambitions with the DBX. Speaking with Motoring at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Aston Martin chief engineer Matt Becker and creative boss Marek Reichman said the company is targeting the likes of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and BMW X6 M with its first-ever SUV.

Like other models in the Aston Martin family, the DBX will borrow its electrical architecture from Mercedes-Benz and use AMG’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Power is expected to sit at around 503 hp in the entry-level model but more powerful and faster versions are tipped to be launched down the road. This could include a version with the DB11’s twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12 engine and perhaps a plug-in hybrid version, two models which could take the fight to the likes of the Lamborghini Urus and Bentley Bentayga.
