Aston Martin Vantage Has Few Letdowns, Looks Drop-Dead Gorgeous

Aston Martins have always been some of the most beautiful cars in the market, and the 2019 Vantage is no exception. In fact, it wouldn’t be a hyperbole to call it simply gorgeous.

Built on a shortened platform of the DB11, with lots of modifications and a different suspension, the baby Aston has a Mercedes-AMG-sourced engine up front coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission mounted at the rear for a perfect 50:50 weight distribution.

The 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 may come from Germany, but it features the British automaker’s own software tune. The result is 503 HP (510 PS / 375 kW) and 505 lb-ft (685 Nm) of torque, for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) of 3.6 seconds and a maximum speed of 195 mph (314 km/h).

The driver-focused cockpit doesn’t cut back on luxury, so users will still be surrounded by leather and other fine materials, including carbon fiber. Mind you, not everything is peachy, as there’s a multitude of buttons on the center console and an infotainment system that’s starting to show its age. Unless you’re a die-hard Lamborghini, Ferrari or Porsche fan, though, you’ll live with these without batting an eye.

The 2019 Vantage provides a very lively experience, with accurate steering and great power delivery across the rev meter. At almost AUD $300,000 (USD $203,200) in Australia, where the following review took place, it’s a car that very few will ever be able to afford, but if you can, you shouldn’t think twice. After all, no 911 looks this good, if you ask us.
