Dodge Charger Hellcat Widebody Will Make A Nice Entry In The Muscle Car Class

Back in May, it was revealed that a Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody model was in the works – and, earlier today, Dodge dropped the first teaser.

Mopar Insiders claims to have received word from unnamed sources that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will unveil the new variant an upcoming press event at the Chelsea Proving Grounds in Michigan.

Every year, FCA invites members of the press to test the its latest lineup of production vehicles and it was at the June event last year where the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody was presented. It would only make sense for the Charger version of this model to be revealed at this year’s event.

The new muscle car will be based on the Charger Widebody that is expected to be offered in a number of different configurations. The Hellcat Redeye model will obviously sit at the top of the Charger range and come outfitted with the same 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine as the Challenger Redeye, complete with 797 hp and 707 lb-ft (957 Nm) of torque.

As for the other Charger Widebody models, they are expected to include an entry-level model with a 6.4-liter V8 delivering 485 hp and 475 lb-ft (643 Nm) of torque, as well as one with the ‘standard’ 707 hp 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8.
