HSV SportsCat Series 2 Sequel Brings Enhanced Styling, Equipment

On December 2017, the Holden Colorado pickup got the HSV treatment and the result was named the SportsCat 4×4.

Fast forward to July 2019 and the off-road performance version of the Colorado sees its first round of updates under the Series 2 moniker. Aimed mainly at improving the SportsCat’s looks, the modifications include a new gloss black treatment for the grille, fascia, and lower inserts, as well as additional HSV branding and new 18×10-inch six-spoke forged alloy wheels in matte black.

The rims are shod with Cooper Zeon LTZ Pro Sports All-terrain tires that are a hybrid between a sports-truck and an all-terrain tire. HSV says is has selected the rubber for its “outstanding on-road performance characteristics, most notably on tarmac and dirt roads.”

Inside, the HSV SportsCat 4×4 Series 2 gains new HSV Performance seats with Windsor suede inserts and “substantially enhanced bolsters,” a sports-profile steering wheel wrapped in leather, and HSV-branded front seat headrests, floor mats, and instrument panel. In addition to these rather minor styling tweaks, the SportsCat Series 2 gains several chassis updates.

The off-road pickup continues to be offered in two variants, albeit with new names. The SportsCat Look Pack is now called the SportsCat V (the red truck in the gallery), while the SportsCat+ switches to the SportsCat SV (the grey truck) moniker. Both feature the same engine as before, a 2.8-liter Duramax turbodiesel rated at 200 PS (197 hp) and up to 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque when linked to the optional six-speed automatic transmission (a six-speed manual gearbox is standard).

The off-road suspension (with optional SupaShock dampers) and safety technology remain unchanged as well. Prices stay the same too, with the SportsCat V starting at AU$62,490 (approximately $43,900) and the SportsCat SV starting at AU$66,790 ($47,000).
