Is The Ferrari F8 Tributo A Fitting Replacement To The 488 GTB?

The first reviews of the Ferrari F8 Tributo are out, right as Maranello is launching its new mid-engined V8 supercar in Spider form at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The F8 Tributo was introduced at Geneva earlier this year as the successor to the 488 GTB. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged, 3.9-liter V8 very similar to the one used by the 488 Pista, producing an identical 710 HP at 8000 rpm and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque from 3250 rpm.

According to the official spec sheet, it hits 62 mph (100 km/h) in a brisk 2.9 seconds and 124 mph (200 km/h) in just 7.8 seconds before topping out at 211 mph (340 km/h). These are all very impressive figures, but how does the F8 Tributo actually drive?

The following video reviews from the global press launch both claim that it does feel similar to the 488 GTB. This isn’t a surprise, considering it shares its underpinnings with its predecessor. If one were to be super critical, they could say the F8 Tributo is simply a facelifted version of the 488 Pista that has been made a little more comfortable for street use.

What we’re particularly eager to see is how the F8 Tributo compares to the McLaren 720S that quickly established itself as the one to beat in this segment following its unveiling a couple of years ago. It will have to wait, though, so for now, the following reviews will have to suffice.
