Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster Commands A £30,000 Premium Over The Coupe In UK

Customers in the UK can now place an order for the new Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster, which starts from £178,675.

That makes the new AMG GT R Roadster £34,400 more expensive than the GT C Roadster, and a round £30,000 over the GT R Coupe.

The two-seater roadster is powered by the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine found in the fixed-roof GT R Coupe, producing 577hp (585PS) and 516lb-ft (700Nm) of torque. It’s bolted to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

0-62mph (100km/h) comes in 3.6 seconds while top speed is electronically limited to 197mph (317km/h).

Standard equipment includes LED High Performance adaptive headlights, AMG performance and climatised seats dressed in nappa leather, AMG Drive Unit with traction control, a 10.25-inch infotainment system paired with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a Burmester surround sound system, interior carbon fiber trim and more. For an extra £5,995, customers can opt for the carbon-fiber braking system.

The triple-layered lightweight fabric soft top features a structure that mixes aluminum, magnesium and steel, as well as an acoustic mat to reduce noise. Opening or closing it takes just 11 seconds, with the procedure to be available up to speeds of 31 mph (50km/h). Customers can choose between three colors for it: black, red or beige.

The Mercedes AMG GT R Roadster also comes with active cooling; a set of vertical louvers at the bottom of the front apron are operated electronically, opening and closing depending on cooling and aerodynamic demands.

The first examples of the new Mercedes AMG GT R Roadster will arrive in the UK this autumn.
