Opel To Show “Most Fuel Efficient” Astra Ever, New Corsa, Hybrid Grandland X In Frankfurt

Opel has announced that it will launch the “most fuel-efficient Astra ever” at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, which opens its doors next month.

No specifics have been provided yet, but it will be displayed alongside other variants of the popular compact hatchback and estate, which will be highlighting their visual updates and new PSA-sourced engines.

A special spot will be reserved to the new generation Corsa, which is closely related to the latest Peugeot 208. Like the French supermini, it’s much improved over its predecessor and, for the first time ever, will be available with an electric powertrain in Corsa-e guise. The zero-emissions model will be making its public appearance in Frankfurt too, with a 125 PS (123 hp / 92 kW) electric motor powered by a 50 kWh battery, which allows for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 8.1 seconds and a 330 km (205 miles) range in the WLTP test cycle.

The company’s first plug-in hybrid, the Grandland X Hybrid4, will be taken to the biggest car event of the fall as well. It features a 1.6-liter petrol engine with two electric motors and a 13.2 kWh lithium-ion battery, has a combined output of 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW), a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration that takes 6.1 seconds and a 51 km (32 miles) electric range.

Vauxhall’s British-built Vivaro Life, which is already available to order in two grades, the Elite and Edition, with space for up to 9 people, will also be present at the event, while an electric version will launch next year.
