Porsche 911 Turbo S And Lamborghini Huracan Performante Are Other-Worldly Fast

The Porsche 911 Turbo S and Lamborghini Huracan Performante are two of the most accelerative cars on the planet right now.

To the casual observer, the Huracan Performante may look to be the quickest because of its crazy looks and Lamborghini badge, but time and time again, the 911 Turbo S has proven itself to be a formidable rival in a straight-line.

First, the figures. Powering the 911 Turbo S is a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six with 572 HP and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque funneled through all four wheels. By comparison, the Huracan Performante uses a naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 delivering 632 HP and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm). Will the Porsche’s torque advantage be the deciding factor?

In the only drag race run between the duo, it was the Porsche that ran away with the race after getting a slightly better launch, but the reviewer notes that it is simply a matter of who launches the best as to which car will sprint off the line quicker. In a race like this, drivers’ reaction times can win or lose a race.

The second and third performance tests between the pair are a rolling race and a braking test from 70 mph (112 km/h). The two are very evenly matched in both, and it’s clear that the 911 Turbo S and Huracan Performante are capable of feats once reserved for million dollar-plus hypercars.
