Prepare To Be Blown Away By This 597HP Audi RS3 Sportback

Accelerate all you want, chances are that, unless you own an exotic, you’ll never see this Audi RS3 Sportback in your rearview mirror for more than a couple of seconds. The reason is that it has an HGP-Turbo diploma and more power than an R8.

The 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine has been massively upgraded with new components by the German tuner and now puts out a mighty 606 PS (597 hp / 446 kW) and 710 Nm (524 lb-ft) of torque. To cope with the extra 206 PS (203 hp / 154 kW) and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) of torque, the 7-speed DCT has been enhanced.

HGP-Turbo claims that the RS3 Sportback is now capable of shooting to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.1 seconds and to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 9.7 seconds. The quarter mile is completed in 11.01 seconds and, if the road conditions allow it, it will push up to well over 300 km/h (186 mph).

In fact, the speedometer indicated a whopping 316 km/h (196 mph) during a recent run on a German motorway – we assume on a speed-limit free section of the Autobahn. It may not be the most precise way to measure a car’s top speed, but it’s more than the stock model does: 250 km/h (155 mph) or, with Audi removing the speed limiter, 280 km/h (174 mph).

All work is TUV-approved, and will cost you €16,900 ($18,917) in Germany, including the €1,400 ($1,567) for the installation of all parts. That’s about €3,000 ($3,358) less than the starting price of the new A1 Sportback locally, but in return, you’d get supercar levels of power in what is, essentially, a compact hatchback.
