The 2020 Toyota Supra Can Hit 60 MPH In Just 3.8 Sec, 1/4 mile In 12.3 Sec

Our time spent with the 2020 Toyota Supra confirmed that the sports car is an absolute blast to drive and new performance testing of the car shows that it is actually quicker than the Japanese carmaker claims.

Car and Driver recently had the opportunity to conduct a series of performance tests with the 2020 Supra and were able to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in a blistering 3.8 seconds with the new car. This time wasn’t achieved by using the included launch control system and instead, largely came down to the finesse of applying the throttle to avoid excessive wheelspin. Toyota quotes a 0-60 mph time in the new Supra of 4.1 seconds.

Running down the quarter mile, the magazine was able to record a best run of 12.3 seconds at 113 mph (181 km/h). That puts the Supra in front of the BMW M2 Competition and Ford Mustang Shelby GT350, both of which have significantly more power. The Supra is also just a hair slower than the Chevrolet Corvette and Porsche Cayman GTS. This leads the publication to suggest that the Supra is pumping out a little more grunt than the 335 hp which Toyota claims for the sports car.

In other performance tests, the Supra pulled an impressive 1.07 g on the skidpad, edging ahead of both the Cayman GTS and BMW M2. The car can also brake from 70 mph (112 km/h) to a standstill in 148 feet.

Will figures like these finally silence those still doubting the car’s performance credentials?
