The Ferrari F2002 Which Michael Schumacher Claimed A Championship In Is For Sale

The Ferrari F2002 which took Michael Schumacher to his fifth Formula 1 championship title will be sold on November 30 in Abu Dhabi during the final F1 race of this season.

The German racing ace drove a handful of F2002 models during the 2002 championship. The example in question is chassis no. 219 and was driven by Schumacher to victory at the French, Austrian, and San Marino Grands Prix. It was during the French Grand Prix where Schumacher clinched his 2002 championship title.

Those in attendance at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the end of November will have the opportunity to see the F2002 cruising down the circuit’s pit straight at the conclusion of qualifying. The auction will then commence soon after.

“The Michael Schumacher F2002, chassis number 219, is truly special; it represents one of the last Rory Byrne-designed, V-10 era cars and was like a guided missile in acquiring wins on route to a Championship won with sheer racing dominance,” RM Sotheby’s said. “As a result, it remains as one of the most dominant Formula 1 racing cars in history and is fittingly joined by the ultimate in Ferrari supercars in the virtually as-new Ferrari F40.”

During the races throughout the 2002 season where chassis no.219 didn’t compete, it was used as a test car and retired the following season. It has passed through the ownership of a number of collectors across multiple continents since. A percentage of the proceeds generated by the sale will be donated to the Keep Fighting Foundation, founded by Michael Schumacher’s family.
