Comedian Sebastian Maniscalsco set to host the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards

Comedian Sebastian Maniscalsco will be the host of the upcoming 2019 MTV Video Music Awards.

The 45 year old comedian teased the announcement on Twitter Tuesday afternoon, saying he has a ‘big announcement’ he’s making on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, adding, ‘it’s something I’ve never done.’

On the show, he revealed that he is, ‘hosting the VMA’s, 2019, MTV,’ adding that ‘it’s huge, I’m so excited.’

When Fallon added that he’s gonna be fantastic, Maniscalco confidently said, ‘I know,’ which caused the audience to laugh.

The video begins with Maniscalco telling his wife, Lana Gomez, that MTV asked him to host the VMAs, but she isn’t exactly thrilled.

‘Do they know you know nothing about music?’ but Maniscalco insists that he ‘grew up’ on MTV, dropping artists like Madonna, Prince and… Wham.

When the robot mentions 17 year old female singer Billie Eilish, the comedian says, ‘No, but I can’t wait to meet him.’

‘We’re thrilled to have the incredibly talented Sebastian Maniscalco as this year’s VMA host,’ said Bruce Gillmer, MTV VMAs executive producer. 

‘Sebastian is on fire right now and his comedic spin on relatable topics will make this year’s show truly unforgettable,’ Gillmer added.

The VMAs will air Monday, August 26 from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, marking the first time the VMAs will take place in New Jersey.
