Elton John and Taron Egerton reunited on stage for the singer’s AIDS Foundation Midsummer Party, held at Pigozzi’s private Villa Dorane in Antibes, on Wednesday night.
The actor, 29, who portrayed Elton in Rocketman, delighted guests when he tried on the singer’s famous checked jacket, which was worn on stage at the Omni in Atlantica in 1976, before resurfacing in the biopic nearly 50 years later.
Throwing his support behind his mentor, the screen star modelled the quirky Gucci blazer during the live auction and held it open for Elton, 72, to sign the lining.

The blazer sold at the auction was the one worn in Rocketman, which was recreated by Gucci after Elton wore the jacket, made by Bob Mackie, on stage in 1976.
During the ball, Chris Martin sung Viva La Vida and was later joined on stage by The Who’s guitarist Pete Townshend for a performance of I’m Still Standing and Rocketman.
The annual ball never fails to boast a heaving guest list full of the top celebs and the pop rock icon ensured this year was no different as the industry’s leading stars showed up in a bevy of incredibly glamorous ensembles.

Making his red carpet appearance, Taron caught the eye with his suave appearance as he rocked a dark navy suit, tied in with a casual white shirt and suede loafers.
He put his best fashion foot forward as he accessorised with a pair of kooky orange-tinted shades – a nod to superstar Elton.
Highlighting her incredible figure, Emily – who previously served as Tom Cruise’s assistant, looked radiant in a midnight blue midi dress, paired with chunky black ankle-strap heels.

The brunette beauty ensured focus remained on her ensemble as she kept accessories to a minimum and complemented her naturally stunning features with neutral-toned make-up.

Legendary actress Joan Collins was also in attendance at the gala, where she commanded attention in a pale blue ensemble, featuring a paisley print blouse and sheer feathered trousers.
The TV and film star, 86, was in good company as she put on a loved-up display with her husband of 17 years, Percy Gibson, 54.
Swedish model Victoria Silvstedt, 44 – who has been holidaying in the South of France in recent days – showcased her glowing tan in a neon green dress which boasted a daring thigh slit up the leg. The former beauty queen’s eye-catching number boasted spaghetti straps and pretty mesh beaded detailing on the back of the garment.

Marking the first-ever gala event held in the South of France, the ball celebrates the 26th anniversary of the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which aims to create an AIDS free future in order to make the biggest possible difference to those living with HIV.
Over the last 26 years the foundation’s achievements include: reaching millions across 26 countries with the HIV information, support and care to save their lives and protect those they love; preventing almost a million babies being born with the HIV virus; and helping to leverage more than £300 million in additional funding from governments and funding partners.
Since the first ever summer ball back in 1999, global HIV treatment has expanded from less than 300,000 people to over 20 million.

Last year’s Argento Ball saw the launch of the 2018 fundraising campaign, which is aimed at young people at risk of HIV.
In a recent statement, the Candle in the Wind singer said the foundation’s mission ‘is more important than ever’ in our current climate.
He added that he and everyone at the Foundation is optimistic about their ability to impact those affected by HIV and AIDS.
