Rumours first began to emerge that Liam would be joining The Killers for the headline show earlier this month.

A source preciously told The Sun: ‘Liam is a big fan of Brandon [Flowers] and the lads and has got on stage with them a few times.

‘But they got talking about doing a proper bit together, so have been speaking about doing something on Saturday night.

‘As ever with Liam, things go right down to the wire, but both sides are keen to do something and Liam is on directly before The Killers.’

Earlier this month, Liam revealed that his much-anticipated second solo album, Why Me? Why Not., which features his single Shockwave, would be released on September 20.

Speaking about the new album Liam said: ‘I wrote some songs on my own for the last album, but this time it’s all co-writes. Reason being is I want it to be even better than As You Were.

‘I know my strengths and I know my limitations. I’m an ok songwriter, but I’m a great singer and frontman.

‘I want the second album to be a step-up because the hardest thing to do is to make something the same, only better. So that’s what we’ve done.’
