After a series of unscripted and highly disruptive catastrophes on the set of Daniel Craig’s fifth and final James Bond film, there was more than a touch of irony about the latest dramatic episode as production commenced on Sunday.

Cameras caught the moment a car was flipped onto its roof after being forced off the road at high speed, but unlike the troubled film’s lengthy list of dramas, this one – arguably the most dramatic yet – was the scripted culmination of a thrilling chase sequence.

Director Carey Joji Fukunaga and his crew are currently ensconced in rugged Highland countryside surrounding the Scottish town of Aviemore as they film scenes close to Bond’s childhood home.

And with the latest scenes focusing on the winding forest roads within Ardverikie Estate, a 19th century Scottish baronial house, the production nailed an impressive car flip following a chase involving a 4×4 a powerful Range Rover.

With the Range Rover seemingly in pursuit, the silver 4×4 was pushed into a sheer rock face before somersaulting through the air and landing in a twisted heap on the other side of the narrow country road.

While Craig was not present on Sunday, the sequence was witnessed by members of the production team and an assortment of extras, their features ominously covered by ski-masks.
