Keira Maguire says she doesn’t take The Bachelorette ‘seriously’ as a dating show

Keira Maguire has hit out at The Bachelorette, saying that ‘nobody takes it seriously’.

The reality TV veteran was discussing the new series of The Bachelor on The Buzz  podcast this week when she took a swipe at the franchise’s female-fronted spin-off.

Keira told co-hosts Mikkayla Mossop and Joey Carroll that she only follows couples formed on The Bachelor and isn’t interested in any of the Bachelorettes and their boyfriends.

Keira, who has starred on The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise, made the claim after listing a handful of successful couples who met on The Bachelor.

‘The only show I take seriously when it comes to love is The Bachelor. Not even The Bachelorette,’ Keira said.

When Mikkayla pointed out that there are are few Bachelorette couples still together – namely Ali Oetjen and Taite Radley – Keira backtracked slightly.

‘Yeah, no, it does do well…’ she said, seemingly contradicting what she’d just said.

Last year, the show brought in metro viewers around the 600,000 mark, which was a significant dip following Sophie Monk’s season in 2017.

The 2018 season of The Bachelor, on the other hand, was a ratings success.

The premiere of Nick Cummins’ season drew in the highest first episode ratings in the history The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.

The latest season of The Bachelorette, meanwhile, is currently being filmed in Sydney with Angie Kent in the leading role.

Despite previously criticising him for being ‘from Adelaide’, Keira gave Matt her seal of approval after watching the first trailer.

‘He’s actually very good-looking,’ she said. ‘Very sexy Superman vibe, I hope that they’ve got some decent women for him.’
