Love Island: Tom is BOOTED from the villa in a shock dumping from Maura

His stint on the ITV2 dating series has seen him spark a controversial sexism row among viewers for making a suggestive comment about his partner Maura Higgins.

And Tom Walker appeared to have rubbed the public the wrong way as he was booted from the villa alongside Arabella Chi in dramatic scenes on Thursday’s Love Island.

It was up to ‘safe’ Islanders Amber, Lucie and Molly-Mae to decide which boy got their marching orders, with the trio of girls unanimously agreeing the way he’d been treating Maura was reason enough for him to leave.

In addition, just hours before, Maura had officially dumped Tom herself, claiming it was ‘done’ between them, after he was caught lying to her about calling her ‘loud and cringe’.

Viewers were in agreement too.

‘The islanders made the right decisions. Both Arabella and Tom deserved to be dumped. Laters, bitches,’ one person tweeted.

‘Tom deserved the boot for being a lying c**t,’ voiced another.

A third wrote: ‘What goes around comes around Tom you stupid d**khead, exactly what he deserved and one of the worst islanders there’s ever been #loveisland glad to see him go.’

In a candid post-exit interview, the model, 28, admitted he should have been ‘straight up’ about his feelings for grid girl Maura, also 28, who he slyly branded ‘a cringe, OTT attention-seeker’ during a conversation with Jordan Hames.

On Sunday’s episode, the hunk left ring girl Maura furious when she overheard him joking that he would be interested to see if she’s ‘all mouth or not’ during their planned night in the Hideaway.

And just days after patching things up, the couple were at loggerheads once again after the Irish beauty discovered Tom had been talking about her behind her back.

Shortly before his departure from the series, Maura branded him a ‘bare-faced liar and a coward’ after learning about his negative comments from fellow Islander Anna Vakili.

Summing up his time in the villa, the personal trainer reflected: ‘Lots of highs and a couple of lows. The highs outweighed the lows though.

‘I had a great time in there. We kept saying “too blessed to be stressed.” Everyone in there appreciates where they’re at.’

When asked about his relationship with Maura, he admitted: ‘Maura was the one that I felt the closest connection to. There wasn’t really another option.

‘I said what I said about her being OTT etc because it was early days and I was sound boarding off people. I perhaps should have just been straight from the off.’

He also expressed his regret about the tacky Hideaway comment, admitting he ‘got ahead of myself’ and ‘made an out of character remark’.

Tom insisted he was left shocked when he saw host Caroline Flack appear in the villa and confessed he wasn’t ready to leave to show.

He shared: ‘I was enjoying it and I wasn’t ready to leave. I didn’t expect to go. We knew something was going to happen. Caroline hadn’t dropped in for a while.

‘But I thought maybe some new guys were coming in. I didn’t see a dumping like that coming. I thought it was between me and Danny [Williams] when it came to it.’

Aside from his tumultuous romance with Maura, the Leeds native gushed about his ‘bond’ with his former co-stars.

Honest: 'I said what I said about her being OTT etc because it was early days and I was sound boarding off people. I perhaps should have just been straight from the off', the hunk explained

‘We had a great laugh’, he enthused. ‘Obviously going in with Jordan, we had an instant bond. Me and Anton [Danyluk] got on really well.

‘Danny and I had a lot in common. Curtis [Pritchard] is a great guy. They all have good hearts and great banter.’

He also shared his thoughts on who he believes is ‘playing a game’ during their stint on popular dating show.

Tom admitted: ‘Off the back of the Twitter challenge the other day with the comments about Molly-Mae [Hague], there were a few seeds planted.

‘Whether she’s changed and fallen in love with Tommy [Fury], only they know. I didn’t see it initially for myself though.’

On seeing the couples going the distance with their relationship, he said: ‘I think there are four good couples in there – Curtis and Amy [Hart], who seem really solid.

‘Michael [Griffiths] and Amber [Gill]. Michael really likes Amber. She keeps him on his toes but I think she really likes him. I’m not sure about Jordan and Anna because it’s so fresh but he does really like her.

‘Tommy and Molly-Mae spend so much time together. They’re like the same person. It’s rare you get Tommy by himself without Molly-Mae being there. They seem really legit.’

Love Island continues on Friday at 9pm on ITV2.
