On Becoming A God In Central Florida FIRST LOOK: Kirsten Dunst and Alexander Skarsgård star in drama

The trailer for Kirsten Dunst and Alexander Skarsgård’s dark comedy On Becoming A God In Central Florida was released earlier this month.

In the quirky new show, which will be premiering on Showtime in August, the 37-year-old actress stars as Krystal Stubbs, a woman out for revenge against the multi-billion-dollar pyramid scheme that ruined her family.

Establishing how the Garbeau company manipulates its victims, Alexander’s Travis declares at the start: ‘Everyone who judged me, all the stinker thinkers who tried to tell me it was a scam, I’m thinking of their faces when they realise they’re about to see what a winner looks like.’

In motivational tapes, Obie Garbeau II (Ted Levine), tells his listeners: ‘Dream a big dream, success is in your blood fella.’

With that in mind, Travis heads to his workplace dressed in a black tuxedo, and trashes the office as he berates his co-workers by saying: ‘Are you going to stay in you J-O-B? Or are you going to embrace your destiny!’

The influence of the Garbeau system seems to be clear in Krystal’s town as resident Cody (Théodore Pellerin) confesses that ‘this is Garbeau country, I’m a Garbeu man.’

Full of quirky imagery and baffling scenarios, including a mermaid-like Kirsten, violence and Aliens, the trailer sees the characters’ lives descend into chaos at the hands of the Garbeau system.

Krystal is determined to destroy the company from the inside-out as she says she’s ‘calling the shots, f*** the Garbeau system’, before adding: ‘They’re counting on people being brainwashed, we gotta get out, we gotta get out of this.’

Meeting in another scene, Obie calls Krystal a ‘demon’, but she quips: ‘No, I’m a businessman.’
