The House Rules teams deliver their most stunning renovations ever for the show’s grand finale

Pete and Courtney became one of the most loved couples on this season’s House Rules.

And on Tuesday, the high school sweethearts took home the top prize of $250,000 after winning the popular renovation show.

While Pete and Courtney may have won the competition, the remaining teams turned out stellar makeovers for the grand finale of House Rules on Tuesday.

Tasked with renovating a luxury loft, Tim and Mat, Pete and Courtney, and Lisa and Andy created what was undeniably some of the best makeovers of the season.

The judges were left gobsmacked as they toured the freshly renovated areas in the loft, with the professionals saying they were taking inspiration from the contestants.

Walking into the bedroom designed by Tim, 32, and Mat, 27, judges Jamie Durie, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Wendy Moore were in awe.

‘They are taking the house rules and they are turning them into poetry, into song,’ remarked Laurence, 54.

Meanwhile, Jamie, 49, called it his ‘favourite room’ in the whole season, and was impressed by what he described as ‘cutting-edge architecture’.

Wendy was equally as inspired, calling their renovation of the bedroom ‘genius’, and describing it as the best room she’s ‘ever seen in House Rules’.

But they had some stiff competition in the form of Pete, 32, and 31-year-old Courtney’s en suite, which also left the judges blown away.

After calling the room ‘very confident’, Laurence described it as ‘ridiculously, high-end, sophisticated, international, glamorous decorating’.

Equally impressive was the master retreat, created by Lisa, 30, and Andy, 32.

‘It’s my dream room!’ remarked Wendy as soon as she walked in, while Jamie was in awe of the pivoting doors, which he referred to as ‘a secret James Bond entrance’.

‘I have always wanted a bookshelf with a ladder. It’s beautiful!’ said Jamie, who was also in awe of the pivoting doors

Simply the best: Added Laurence: 'There's no shadow of a doubt that this is the best room Lisa and Andy have ever done'

The glowing reviews made it a close competition, with the show’s host Johanna Griggs, 45, admitting the judges had a tough task ahead of themselves.

‘This is an unbelievably tight race amongst all three teams,’ she commented.
