EXCLUSIVE: Australian Survivor prepares a brand new season for early 2020… and it could feature an all-star cast of former contestants

Channel 10 is about to start filming a brand new season of Australian Survivor.

Daily Mail Australia can confirm that filming will kick off ‘very soon’ and that it will feature a number of past contestants.

Rumours of a new season of Australian Survivor first emerged in June, when TV Blackbox reported that filming was scheduled to start in August.

TV Blackbox claimed that the new season could be a ‘possible replacement’ for Channel 10’s struggling Bachelor in Paradise.

However, Daily Mail Australia understands the network is still going ahead with a third season of Paradise, and that producers have already contacted several Bachelor 2019 stars about appearing on the show.

With a sixth season of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! also confirmed for early next year, it’s unclear where Australian Survivor will fit in Channel 10’s first quarter programming schedule.

In July, Australian Survivor host Jonathan LaPaglia accidentally let slip that two seasons of the show were being produced this year.

‘It’s challenging, every time I step away,’ he said when discussing the difficulties of filming a show like Survivor.

‘And this year will be particularly challenging because it’s going to be two seasons, so when you add it all up it’s like six months [of filming].’

Tellingly, this portion of the interview was deleted shortly after being published.

According to TV Blackbox, Channel 10 is desperate to keep the new season under wraps and has sworn potential contestants to secrecy.

When Daily Mail Australia contacted several trusted Survivor sources, they were all reluctant to speak, but confirmed they had heard whispers about people being contacted for the show.

The current season of Australian Survivor: Champions Vs Contenders has been a huge ratings success for 10, consistently pulling in solid numbers for the network.

The show has also been a surprise hit with critics, which is a rarity in the reality TV genre.
