Bachelor 2019 star thinks ‘astrophysicist’ is a STAR SIGN as she meets Matt Agnew

The awkward moment a Bachelor contestant thinks ‘astrophysicist’ is a STAR SIGN as a brand new trailer shows Matt Agnew meeting the girls

Matt Agnew is looking for his soulmate on The Bachelor, but whether he finds his intellectual match is another matter entirely.

In a trailer for the first cocktail party, the 31-year-old suitor is left speechless when a contestant appears to not know what an astrophysicist is.

After meeting a pretty, curly-haired blonde who asks him what he does for a living, the academic responds: ‘I’m an astrophysicist’.

After a brief pause, she responds: ‘OK, I’m a Gemini’.

Matt is momentarily lost for words, but he soon realises the woman is just joking and replies: ‘I’m a Leo’.

It’s possible the stars align for the pair later in the season, as Geminis and Leos are considered sexually compatible.

Elsewhere in the trailer, the women are shown swooning over Matt and marvelling at his good looks and intelligence.

‘I can’t believe he’s smart, that’s so exciting!’ one girl blurts out.

Others use gimmicks to get Matt’s attention, including one woman who rolls out a red carpet and another who arrives in a wedding dress.

A third contestant attempts to rev up the romance by arriving on a motorcycle.

For the benefit of viewers at home, Matt explains in the trailer what he does for a living in simple, straightforward  terms.

‘As an astrophysicist I get to basically research to try and find another planet for future generations to live on,’ he says.

‘I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved in my career so far but at the end of the day you can’t have a cuddle with a PhD… I am here to find the love of my life.’

The Bachelor will air on Channel 10 in the coming weeks, after MasterChef’s finale
