It looked like a joyous family reunion as stars Gabrielle Carteris, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling, and Ian Ziering took selfies, hugged and caught up.

But things really got started when Ziering walked in carrying the pilot script over his head victoriously.

‘There it is baby,’ Priestley said while flashing the script for the camera.

Then they got down to business, reading their lines all while laughing, cheering and high-fiving.

And as everyone leaned in for a group hug, the tagline ‘The gang returns home’ appeared on screen.

The upcoming series is part revival, part parody.

Instead of basing the series on the original characters, the show will feature the cast as ‘heightened’ versions of themselves, poking fun at the nature of celebrity.

‘It’s about the characters behind the characters,’ Jennie Garth told Entertainment Weekly. ‘It’s inside the lives of people that lived in those shoes for those 10 years, and it’s about them coming back together.’

For Jason Priestley, the reunion was almost too fun to get any work done.

‘Since all of us had been at one of those gallery shoots together, it had been 25 years, so it was really kind of special,’ he told EW. ‘We all had lot of fun that day, there was a lot of joking around. They had a hard time getting us to actually focus and do anything because we were all messing around so much.’

Unfortunately it was also bittersweet for the cast, who were not joined by late castmate Luke Perry. The Riverdale actor passed away in March after suffering a severe stroke.

Beverly Hills, 90210 originally ran from 1990 to 2000, producing 293 episodes over 10 seasons. It spawned the highly successful spin-off Melrose Place and in 2018 the CW debuted its own five-season revival.
