Big Brother’s Jack Matthews is caught on camera telling racial joke at expense of castmate Isabella Wang

Big Brother’s Jack Matthews was caught on camera making a racial joke aimed at housemate Isabella Wang.

On a stream of the show, Matthews, a 28-year-old fitness professional, was gathered around a hammock with housemates Tommy Bracco, Kathryn Dunn, Christie Murphy and Analyse Talavera in a discussion about Wang, a 22-year-old public health analyst who is of Chinese decent.

When Bracco used the phrase ‘the proof is in the pudding,’ Matthews interrupted and said, ‘The rice pudding,’ which the others did not react to.

Later on, Murphy told Bracco in a somber discussion that housemate Holly Allen brought up the remark to her, seeking her reaction to it.

Bracco said it had ‘just now’ dawned on him that the remark was offensive, gasping and saying, ‘Oh my God, I get it now, and I didn’t get that at the time.’

Murphy said she didn’t feel comfortable commenting on the issue, as she didn’t feel Matthews ‘meant it like that.’

The controversy comes on the heels of ex-housemate Kemi Fakunle taking to Twitter last week to complain about the way others behaved on the CBS series. (Matthews had previously remarked he wanted to ‘stomp a f***ing mud hole through [Fakunle’s] chest,’ TV Guide reported.)

‘I am extremely disappointed and disgusted by the behavior I am being made aware of that occurred thus far in the Big Brother house,’ Fakunle said. ‘The degrading and threatening comments made by some house-guests and laughed at by others are outrageous and hard to see.’

The Elkridge, Maryland native, 25, said she was ‘saddened to be associate d with such a negative display of human character,’ and ‘horrified’ to be linked to the show.
