Cheryl CONFIRMS she will be a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK

Cheryl has CONFIRMED she will be a guest judge on the first ever series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

The former Girls Aloud star, 36, took to Instagram and Twitter on Wednesday morning to reveal the news and share her delight with a photo of herself clad in a luminous ensemble.

The official Twitter account for RuPaul’s Drag Race UK also shared the news as they declared Cheryl ‘the Queen of Newcastle’ alongside a snap of the star pouting in front of her dressing room.

Cheryl wrote: ‘I am SO excited to tell you that I will be a guest judge on the first ever series of UK Drag Race !!!!!

‘I am such a huge fan of the show and can not wait to watch our UK queens make their mark!

‘Coming soon to @bbcthree .. Gentlemen Start your engines and may the best woman win @dragraceukbbc #dragraceuk.’ 

Cheryl joins the likes of Andrew Garfield, 35, Black Mirror star Michaela Coel, 31, and and Jade Thirlwall, 26, who have also been confirmed as guest judges on the show.

Cheryl, Spider-Man actor Andrew, Star Wars actress Michaela and Little Mix singer Jade join the likes of Maisie Williams and Geri Horner on the celebrity line-up. 

Andrew, who is a huge Drag Race fan, will appear as an ‘extra special guest judge’ on the very first episode of the upcoming series which sees ten British queens take to the runway. 

Talking about the opportunity, the award-winning Hollywood actor said: ‘The creativity is always totally outside the box and it’s one of the many reasons I watch and love this show – when someone does something I wouldn’t have thought of myself.’

While Michaela added: ‘I love that you have to dare, you have to dare and you have to drop all of your societal norms and restraints that you’ve been taught and you have to dare to embody something higher.’

The two stars will join the show’s veterans RuPaul and Michelle Visage on the judging panel with Graham Norton and Alan Carr appearing as rotating judges each week.

Andrew and Michaela’s line-up confirmation comes just days after it was ‘ru-vealed’ that Geri Horner and Jade Thirlwall would be joining the list of guest judges which includes GoT star Maisie Williams. 

Talking about the exciting opportunity, the Spice Girls star, 46, said: ‘I just love how drag encourages people to be exactly who they are. 

‘This show has brought so much joy and pride to people all over the world, I can’t wait for everyone to see the amazing queens representing the UK in this first ever series.’

While self-confessed Drag Race superfan, Little Mix’s Jade, 26, said: ‘I love absolutely everything about drag.

It was announced in December that RuPaul’s Drag Race is launching its first ever UK version on BBC Three. 

Drag Race is already a huge success in the US with a record-breaking 23 Emmys, with a total of nine wins including Outstanding Reality-Competition Program and Outstanding Host for a Reality-Competition Program. 

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is set to debut on BBC Three television screens in the autumn.
