The pair met when Robyn auditioned to become a dancer at the strip club Chris manages.

They kept their romance a secret for months as they didn’t want it to jeopardize Robyn’s job at the club.

While Robyn had eyes for Chris when they met, she admitted it was her Nan who fancied the actor during his Coronation Street days.

She said: ‘My Nan used to fancy him on Corrie – but I think he’s better looking now.’

When Robyn, who goes by the name Lexi when she dances, first auditioned at the club, she had no idea who Chris was.

Chris had not been in a relationship for 10 years before meeting her and said there was an instant attraction when they met.

He said: ‘I was working here only a week and everyone kept asking me, ‘Have you met Lexi yet? When I saw her it was a lightning bolt. A feeling I hadn’t had before. You get it only once, twice if you’re lucky.’

Robyn’s father found out she was seeing Chris and engaged to be married when he saw the couple’s recent interview on This Morning.

While she was dreading telling her parents about their romance, Robyn said they have since both come around and will be at the wedding.

Speaking on the ITV show, she said: ‘[My parents] found it really difficult at first. The big age gap. My mum is 38 and my dad’s 40. Now they’re so supportive of me.’

Chris added: ‘I’ve spoken to the mum and they all love me thankfully. But we haven’t spoken to her dad yet.’

Recalling how he proposed, at Robyn’s 21st birthday, Chris told hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: ‘What happened there was Robyn kept saying “I want a stripper” and I reluctantly tried to book a stripper.

‘And so I made a joke and everyone thought I was going to do a strip, and that’s when I popped the question.’

Robyn added: ‘We spoke about it before, but I wasn’t expecting him to do it on my birthday.’
