After less than two years on air, DailyMailTV has become the winner of the 2019 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Entertainment News Program.
Host Jesse Palmer, 40, accepted the award alongside the show’s team at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday.
DailyMailTV has been nominated twice for the award, but this year marks the first time the show had taken home the honor.
It’s an honor: DailyMailTV is the winner of this year’s Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Entertainment News Program
Palmer expressed his gratitude for the honor, thanking viewers for allowing the show into their homes while poking fun at himself.
‘Guys, thank you so much, this is a tremendous honor and a big surprise, we’re super thrilled. First off we want to thank all the viewers that watch everyday and allow us into their homes. We have an amazing team at DailyMailTV that work tirelessly and put so much work into this that do an incredible job.
‘I’ve always said, our show’s not two years old, the show is very successful despite the host,’ Palmer said. ‘The show does well because we have people that are very talented, working very, very long hours and making a lot of sacrifices.
‘We got a great team at DailyMail.com as well, that helps get us a lot of our exclusives. It really sort of forms our news agenda everyday. CBS Television Distribution, Sinclair, Tribune, and Stage 29, and the great Carla Pennington. She knows a hit when she sees it! And thank you for believing in me in this show.

‘See you at the after-party!’ Palmer expressed his gratitude for the honor, thanking viewers for allowing the show into their homes while joking about his love for Game Of Thrones
Honored: DailyMailTV has been nominated twice for the award, but this year marks the first time the show had taken home the honor after just two years of being on air
‘I really came here tonight, all I cared about was Game of Thrones tonight. But now I don’t care, see you at the after party!’
DailyMailTV had also been nominated for Outstanding Main Title and Graphics.
Palmer also presented the award for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host, but first shared the spotlight with a precious dog.
Aww! The host first appeared on stage alongside Lucky Dog host Brandon McMillan, who carried a fluffy white dog onto the stage
Adopt! The pair appeared alongside Q-Tip to encourage viewers to adopt their next furry friend
Puppy love! Palmer pet the fluffy pooch on the head
The host first appeared on stage alongside Lucky Dog host Brandon McMillan, who carried a fluffy white dog onto the stage.
‘Tell me a little bit about your friend, because I was told I was only going to have one co-presenter tonight!’ Jesse said.
‘Well this beautiful little dog in my arms is Q-Tip, and he is one of the millions of dogs a year who end up in shelters with a good probability of being euthanized, if they don’t find a home. So please step up to the plate if you’re looking to add a pet to your life, and the way to do it is to adopt. Lots of my furry friends are counting on you to make them lucky dogs,’ Brandon urged viewers.
Good dog! The obedient dog rested calmly in Brandon’s arms
Acclaimed: Among the big winners of the night was Alex Trebek, who was the recipient of Outstanding Game Show Host
‘Yeah, and these dogs are going to make some families out there very lucky as well,’ Jesse remarked. ‘We’re not just here to bring awareness to a great cause, but we’re also actually here to present the award for Entertainment Talk Show Host.’
This year’s winner for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show were Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest for their morning show, Live with Kelly and Ryan.
‘We can give you the trophy and the dog at the same time’, Jesse joked as he presented the award. Kelly and Ryan were unable to be present for the show, so another member of their show accepted the award on their behalf.
Surprise! Judge Judy super-fan Amy Poehler was the surprise celebrity guest at the show to present the star with a Lifetime Achievement Award
Big moment: Poehler handed off the award to her idol, Judge Judy
Among the big winners of the night was Alex Trebek, who was the recipient of Outstanding Game Show Host.
Trebek, who recently revealed he has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, admitted during his speech he was initially concerned he may win the award out of ‘sympathy.’
But then he remembered he lost the same award last year, even though he had undergone two major surgeries at the time.
TV Icon: Judy melted hearts with her moving yet comedic acceptance speech
‘I was concerned that sympathy might play a big role in the voting this year. I’m not a big fan of sympathy votes, I believe we should all be judges on the merits of our own work. But I started thinking about last year… I had just had two major surgeries to remove two life-threatening blood clots on my brain. You would have think that would have elicited a certain amount of sympathy! But I didn’t win! But maybe I’ve been worrying about the wrong thing,’ he said, before referencing Sally Field’s famous Oscar acceptance speech.
‘I should just do what Sally Field did in a venue many, many years ago and look at this as a sign that you guys like me and that you value my work. If that’s the case, I can live with that.’
Amy Poehler shocked audiences when she was unveiled as the surprise celebrity presenting Judge Judy with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
‘I have a husband of four plus decades who still turns me on’: Sheindlin hilariously revealed her decades-long marriage to Jerry Sheindlin was still going very strong
‘In Judge Judy’s courtroom, a chaotic world is told to “Shhh! I’m speaking!” She practices civility, she sets clear boundaries, she will not allow people to humiliate each other, and you are not allowed to lie. But if you do, and you admit it, she’ll say, “GOOD FOR YOU!”‘ Amy raved in her speech.
‘We all watch because we know maybe just once, something will turn out fair. We watch because two people with a problem will work it out in front of a woman who takes them and her job very seriously.’
After accepting the award from Poehler, Judy Sheindlin moved audiences with a heart-warming yet comedic acceptance speech in which she revealed the spark was still very much alive in her decades-long marriage to Jerry Sheindlin.
‘My life is full. I have a wonderful family, I have a husband of four plus decades who still turns me on,’ she said, cracking up audiences.
