Radio host and comedian Ed Kavalee has revealed he never met his biological father.

While discussing older parents on Hughesy & Kate on Monday, the 40-year-old explained that he didn’t have a relationship with his dad, who has since died.

Ed’s father, Charles Keith Hyland, was 65 years old when Ed was born and the TV presenter confessed they ‘never met’.

‘I never met him, never heard his voice,’ he said. 

‘I’ve seen one photograph of him when he died that was in the newspaper. That’s how I knew what he looked like and that he had died.’

Ed added that he never felt his father’s absence because his mother did ‘an amazing job’ as a single parent.

Ed revealed that Charles was born in 1914 and there was a significant age gap between his father and mother.

He said: ‘[He was born] in 1914 and I was born in 1979 which means he was 65 when I was born, which makes him an older parent.

‘It took a fair amount of court cases for him to admit it, though.’

Ed went on to reveal that his father wouldn’t acknowledge him until there was a paternity test that proved they were related.

According to Ed, his father lived an ‘interesting life’ as a ‘duck-feather king’.

He concluded by saying that Charles ‘never paid a cent’ towards his upbringing and he will always remain indebted to his mother.
