Elyse Knowles’ rep clarifies change to ‘Myer Ambassador’ title on Instagram

Elyse Knowles’ publicist says she’s still a Myer ambassador after mysterious change to her Instagram bio – a year after she replaced Jennifer Hawkins as face of the department store

Elyse Knowles’ publicist has clarified that she is still an ambassador for department store Myer after her job title appeared to change in her Instagram bio.

The 26-year-old model and reality TV star previously had ‘Myer Ambassador’ in her description, but she had recently changed this to ‘Myer Partner’.

Elyse’s reps insist there was no significant reason for the change and, after Daily Mail Australia made enquiries on Monday, the word ‘Ambassador’ was reinstated.

An archived version of Elyse’s Instagram page as it appeared online in early May lists her various partnerships and endorsements.

The description read: ‘Myer Ambassador, Vital Ambassador, Face of Aveda, Calvin Klein partner.’

But earlier this week, her Instagram account featured a slightly different bio, with ‘Myer Ambassador’ replaced by ‘Myer Partner’.

After Daily Mail Australia spoke with representatives for Myer and Elyse, ‘Myer Partner’ was switched back to ‘Myer Ambassador’ on Monday afternoon.

A spokeswoman for the model said: ‘Elyse Knowles will continue to be a MYER Ambassador.’

Earlier this month, The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Myer was considering dropping Elyse as an ambassador for the brand.

The former Block star had been hired in July 2018 to replace Jennifer Hawkins as part of a rumoured $300,000 deal.

But apparently executives were having a change of heart and wanted a more ‘mature ambassador’ instead, somebody who would appeal to a broader demographic

An insider said: ‘She’s not a household name like Jennifer Hawkins or Rachael Finch. Not a lot of 30-year-olds watched her on The Block so they’re not familiar with her.’

Claims: Sources told The Sydney Morning Herald that Elyse (pictured on The Block with her boyfriend Josh Barker) had limited appeal and they wanted someone more 'mature'

At the time, a spokesperson for Elyse told the publication that she was still heavily involved with the brand. Myer declined to comment.

Last year, The Daily Telegraph reported that Elyse had signed a $300,00 deal to replace Jennifer, who was believed to command $1million a year for the same role.

Jennifer, who was crowned Miss Universe in 2004, had been with Myer for nearly 12 years when her contract was terminated at the end of 2018.
