Former Neighbours star Nicola Charles revealed she turned down a six-figure pay cheque.
The 49-year-old told Perth Now on Sunday that UK publishers wanted to censor the ‘brutal’ content of her new book, Click Monkey: Who Do You Trust with Your Kids?.
‘Without fail, all of them said we apologise, but the content is too brutal,’ she explained.

‘They all wanted to cut the child molestation part out. But hiding it away and lying about it didn’t sit very well.’
The title, which is now available for purchase on Amazon Books, details the former soap star’s own experiences with domestic violence and sexual abuse.
Nicola spoke of her abuser in an interview with the Herald Sun in October last year, admitting that at first, he was charming and loving.

She recalled: ‘He took off the charming face and I thought, ‘Who the hell are you? Where have you come from?”
‘He was suddenly an entirely different person to the man I’d been with. Some men wear a mask and become what they think you need just to get you.’
The UK-born actress rose to fame as saucy mistress Sarah Beaumont on Channel Ten soap Neighbours from 1995 to 1999.

Nicola told Daily Mail Australia exclusively in June last year, that she’s in talks with executive producer Jason Herbison to make a return.
‘I’ve had a conversation with Jason, and I’m going to meet him for coffee to discuss what’s happening. I think it would be marvelous, I’d love to go back,’ she said at the time.
