Former Bachelorette Georgia Love isn’t known to shy away from controversial topics.
And on Thursday, the 30-year-old newsreader spoke candidly about body image in a column for Whimn.
In the article, Georgia revealed that she decided to ‘throw out all her bikinis’ after unflattering photos of her at the beach were ‘plastered on the front page of a tabloid magazine’.

Georgia said that her photo was unfairly juxtaposed on the magazine’s cover with flattering shots of other celebrities in their swimwear.
She also accused the publication of using an unrelated quote ‘given months earlier’ to subtly ‘shame’ her for her appearance.
The quote that ran alongside the photo was, ‘I’m happy with how I look!’ According to Georgia, ‘the inference was that I should not be’.

After that experience, the 10 News First presenter through ‘all [her] normal bikinis in the bin’ and decided to only wear ‘one-piece bathers in public’.
She still occasionally wears ‘very high waisted bikinis’, but only in the privacy of her backyard.
‘For the first time in my life I truly felt fat, horrible and shamed. Not ashamed. But shamed,’ she added, reflecting on the magazine front cover.
Love yourself! ‘No one should ever let you feel like you can’t or shouldn’t wear anything or look a certain way. And the very last person who you should let do so is yourself.’ she said in the lengthy essay.
Georgia began her media career as a reporter for WIN News in Tasmania but rose to national fame in 2016 when she was chosen to be the Bachelorette.
At the end of her series, chose mechanical plumber Lee Elliott to be her boyfriend out of more than a dozen eligible suitors.
While the couple are yet to get engaged, marry or have children, they are still blissfully happy three years after falling in love.
