Gordon Ramsay lands his first ever prime-time BBC show following the chef’s former success at rival channels

Gordon Ramsay has reportedly landed his own prime-time BBC show for the first time ever, following much success at rival stations. 

The notoriously foul-mouthed chef, 52, will front a cookery contest with the working title Step Up To The Plate, which will see aspiring restaurateurs vying for his approval. 

The show will be Gordon’s first solo project on the BBC, with the star previously having stints on rival channels ITV and Channel 4.

Gordon’s new programme will see contestants pitching exciting and innovative  ideas to the star.

A source revealed to The Sun:  ‘It’s a great coup for the BBC to pinch Gordon from its rivals.    

‘The show is in its very early stages, but everyone hopes it can go from a pilot to a full series.’

They continued: ‘Gordon is hugely popular with audiences and a household name with unrivalled knowledge of the industry.

‘They want chefs, restaurateurs or someone developing the next big food or drink product to apply now.’ 

Gordon has starred in several popular cooking-related shows over the years including Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares on Channel 4 and Hell’s Kitchen on ITV.  

Most recently he’s starred on Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip alongside Gino D’Acampo and Fred Sirieix.

Meanwhile, Gordon and his wife Tana Ramsay, 44, recently welcomed their fifth child Oscar.

Gordon and Tana, announced the arrival of their bundle of joy last month on social media with the words: ‘After 3 BAFTAs and one Emmy… finally we have won an Oscar.

‘Please welcome Oscar James Ramsay, who touched down at 12.58 today for some lunch Xxx.’

Tana had broken the news she was expecting a baby in a celebratory Instagram video posted from the family home in south London on New Year’s Day.

Posted on Gordon’s official Instagram account, the short video panned to each of their children as they wished followers a happy new year before finally settling on Tana, who lifted her sequinned top to reveal the highly noticeable bump.

Captioning the video, Kitchen Nightmares star Gordon wrote: ‘Exciting news! Happy new year from all the Ramsay’s.’

The couple already share children Jack, 19, Holly, 19, Tilly, 17, and Megan, 21.
