Gushing over the news, both Greg and Susie posted the snap, and another that was a close-up of the diamond ring, to break the good news.

Taking a comedic approach with her post, Susie wrote: ‘Finger down, best hike I’ve been on.’

While Greg emotionally told his followers: ‘Came to Phoenix, got myself a fiance. @susiehverrill said YES!’

Prior to revealing the news, Susie took to her Instagram to tell fans that she planned to have a Q&A session, but was keen for certain questions not to crop up.

She explained: ‘If you’ve got any burning questions please do send them over (‘when are you getting married?’ and ‘are you going to try for baby number three?’ could do with being left out…).’

Before the hike, Susie shared a funny video of her and Greg in the bathroom as she said they were about to go out and was putting sun-cream on his ears.

Joking in the caption, Greg wrote: ‘The family who carousel together, tend to get pretty dizzy and worry about leaving the pram unattended together.’

In 2017 Susie said that she and Greg were not going to get married because they do not want ‘a lifetime of misery and s*** sex’.

Reading off comments on an online article about her, she said: ‘”Where’s the ring, Greg?” From Lauren in London. Not here [pointing at her hand]. We’re not going to get married because we don’t fancy a lifetime of misery and s*** sex.’

In a series of videos on photo-sharing site Instagram, she added: ‘This is my favourite: “She went through half the England rugby squad before she got her claws into Rutherford”. Because that’s half accurate.
