House Rules contestant Mat has revealed that he was ‘rushed to hospital’ in an ambulance, after collapsing on the hit renovation show.

Mat, who is partnered with his brother, Tim, 32, on the series, told New Idea on Monday that he experienced a medical emergency shortly after he completed Pete and Courtney’s backyard. 

The 27-year-old said the incident will be seen in an upcoming episode of the show and said: ‘I was fine till about five minutes before it finished and I started to feel a bit woozy and get jelly legs and I thought, “Oh, I don’t feel good here.”

Mat explained he dramatically dropped to the ground as soon as the buzzer sounded.    

‘My body just shut down on me and I struggled to breathe,’ he told the publication.

He added: ‘I got really hot and this horrible nauseous feeling came over me and I started to panic.’

The publication revealed the other teams appeared to be rather troubled by Mat’s ordeal.

Daily Mail Australia contacted Channel Seven for comment.  

Meanwhile House Rules’ aired one of its most emotional episodes ever on Sunday night.

The Seven renovation show reduced Graeme McPake and partner Mary to tears alongside their children, after rising their Campbelltown home from the ashes.

Last November, the family abode in Sydney’s western suburbs was gutted by a house fire, with the owners then unable to rebuild, after having no insurance. 

In the kitchen, married couple, Katie and Alex failed to redeem themselves.

With so much space, the judges were baffled by their placement of amenities, and even more confused that the extractor fan was not centered above the hob.   

At the end of the episode, Katie and Alex were eliminated from the competition. 

House Rules’ returns on Monday at 7:30pm on Channel Seven
