But On Wednesday afternoon, Vicky Pattison revealed that, in truth, she is ‘sad, lonely’ and ‘misses her mam’ as she confessed to feeling like a ‘fraud’ and admitted that her recent ‘weight-gain’ is getting her down.

Taking to the photo-sharing site, the former Geordie Shore star, 31, shared a make-up free selfie displaying her raw, red visage, fresh from a facial ahead of the TV BAFTA’s on Sunday, and candidly opened up about her crisis of confidence.

Lamenting her recent weight-gain, Vicky revealed in the post’s lengthy caption that she has been sleep-eating Doritos, and is ‘overwhelmed by the world she is in.’

The former queen of the jungle also admitted that she has been losing sleep due to anxiety over appearing at the glamorous awards ceremony this weekend.

Alongside the make-up free selfie, Vicky wrote: ‘I don’t even know how to start this post. But I think honesty is probably the best place. So here goes, I feel sad.

‘I bet I know what you’re thinking: why are you putting this on Instagram and not telling your friends?! Or your family?! Or someone who can help?! The answer is not straight forward so bare with me.

The reality beauty admitted that, although she is regularly praised for being ‘real’ with her content on Instagram, she ‘feels like a fraud’ for ‘contributing to the problem’ because she falsely portrays a ‘perfect life’.

She divulged: ‘This week no less than 5 lovely women have approached me in various places & thanked me for being myself on social media- thanked me for being real and an “inspiration”.

‘Well I looked through my feed & I didn’t feel very inspirational at all. I felt like a fraud, like someone who is contributing to the problem that social media is creating in our society rather than someone who is fighting to be part of the solution.

‘Glossy, filtered pics, glamorous locations, bikini shots, ads and an overall aesthetic of a perfect life stare back at me & there are no signs of the girl in this picture.

‘I’m trying not to beat myself up and rationalise that everyone wants to put their best foot forward & show how amazing their life is on social media, but the fact is it’s not good enough.’

Vicky then raged about how being unable to live up to false representations of picture-perfect lives on Instagram results in people ‘punishing’ themselves for feeling inadequate.

She wrote: ‘I want to project positivity, love, kindness & most of all honesty. Too many people are trying to keep up with lifestyles on Instagram that don’t exist.

‘We are punishing ourselves because we aren’t these people & they aren’t even these f**king people? It’s all for the ‘gram! Does that make sense?!

Vicky – who is in an on-off relationship with Ercan Ramadan – went on to admit that, despite the fun-filled bikini snaps which she regularly posts, in truth, she is ‘lonely’ and her recent ‘weight gain’ is making her feel ‘down.’

She continued: ‘So barring that in mind- this is me: I have a chest infection that I haven’t been able to shake and it’s making me cranky, I’m lonely, I’ve gained weight recently and it’s getting me down no matter how much I pretend I’m ok with it.

‘I’m going to the baftas for the first time on Sunday and I’m so nervous that I won’t fit in or look as good as everyone else I’m losing sleep over it, and I went and had this facial to boost my confidence and now my face is sore and red.’

The former Geordie Shore star then revealed that she suffers from sleep related eating disorder (SRED) – defined by sleepeducation.org as a parasomnia consisting of repeated episodes of compulsive binge eating and drinking after waking up in the night, which occur when you are only partially awake.

Vicky explained: ‘I’m overwhelmed in the world I’m in, i ate Doritos last night in my sleep (yes I sleep eat) I miss my mam, I’m drowning in these thoughts and I don’t feel inspirational.

‘My point is, maybe if we’re more honest, we all won’t feel so alone. THANKYOU for listening and I hope you’re a little less hard on yourselves today for it.’

After opening up and sharing her true feelings on Instagram, Vicky was flooded with messages of support from fellow reality stars, including former flame Mario Falcone, Myleene Klass and Calum Best.

Body-confidence advocate Alexandra Cane commented: ‘Good at giving advice, bad at taking it ourselves. You are and will look beautiful regardless, you’ve got your head screwed on, the strength and honesty you show on a regular basis really is to be admired. Don’t be so hard on yourself too gorgeous girl.’

Former Made In Chelsea star Ashley James added: Love this and love you. I feel it very strongly. You’re going to look just perfect at the baftas. You’re a natural beauty, red face or not. And hey, being a little bigger is not the worst thing.’

Rykard Jenkins praised Vicky as an inspiration, writing: ‘Vicky. Honestly you are one of the real ones. Keep being you! Definitely an inspiration to everyone in this game & I can’t think of anyone that has given as much time & effort lifting other people in this industry!’

Tyla Carr followed suit, gushing: ‘You are an inspiration! You dealt with all you did so publicly and like such a strong lady. I wish I had half the confidence you do x.’

Vicky’s honest post follows her recent reunited with her on-off beau Ercan in Dubai, a romance which came after her fiancé John Noble was unfaithful during a lads’ trip to Dubai in November.
