Once Upon A Time In Hollywood features a massive ensemble.

And Quentin Tarantino reportedly had to leave at least one famous member of the huge cast list out of the film entirely.

James Marsden, who was hired to play a young Burt Reynolds, does not appear in the finished movie, according to Collider.

The real Burt Reynolds was also supposed to be in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, but before he could shoot his scenes, he died last September at the age of 82.

Another cast member, Luke Perry, did get to film his appearance before his own shock death this March of an ischemic stroke when he was only 52.

It was revealed last June that James had been cast in the movie, which held its premiere this Monday at Hollywood Boulevard’s iconic TCL Chinese Theater.

The star-studded event coincided with a media screening held at the ArcLight Hollywood, where Collider discovered James was not in the final cut.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt headline the film as respectively a Western star facing eclipse and his loyal longtime stuntman.

Their efforts to reignite their careers occur in 1969 against the backdrop of the Manson Family murders of victims including Sharon Tate, played by Margot Robbie.

At that point, Burt was already a celebrity, having spent three years on Gunsmoke and starred in a few movies such as the Westerns Navajo Joe and Fade In.

In 1969, he appeared opposite Angie Dickinson in the Philippines-set World War II film Impasse and with Raquel Welch in the Western flick 100 Rifles.

He was however yet to become a bona fide movie star, a height he would reach in 1972 with the release of the thriller Deliverance.

In Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, he was going to play George Spahn, whose ranch the Manson Family made their home. After Burt died, Bruce Dern was cast.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’s star cast includes Al Pacino and Lena Dunham as well as such Tarantino veterans as Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen and Zoe Bell.

Damien Lewis plays film star Steve McQueen and Dakota Fanning features as Manson Family member Lynette ‘Squeaky’ Fromme, who went to prison in the 1970s for a failed attempt on the life of U.S. President Gerald Ford.

The listed cast also includes its share of showbiz legacies, including Andie MacDowell’s daughter Margaret Qualley, Kevin Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn Smith and Ethan Hawke’s daughter Maya Hawk.
