JB Gill says he and his fellow JLS stars are ‘there for’ Oritsé Williams after he was cleared of rape… and that the singer is ‘in a good mental space’ despite it having ‘a profound effect’

JLS star JB Gill has assured fans that he and his fellow JLS stars are supporting bandmate Oritsé Williams after he was accused and subsequently cleared of rape.

Speaking on ITV chat show Lorraine, JB – who called it a day with the other JLS members in 2013 – said: ‘It was a tough ordeal for [Oritsé]. We were just there for him.

‘We didn’t know the ins and outs of everything that happened and you have to respect that.

‘He’s come out the other end and he’s in a good mental space. That has been a profound impact and, professionally speaking, it’s had an impact on him.’

Interviewed by Christine Lampard, JB was asked about the possibility of a JLS reunion.

‘I’m sorry, I can’t give you too much hope,’ he said. ‘We’re the best of friends. It was Marvin’s dad’s 60th birthday the weekend before that and we spent a lot of time together.

‘You can never say never but there’s no plans at the moment. We’re all doing our own things.’

JB has had a spin-off career in farming and has appeared on show Big Week At The Zoo.

‘It is very scary to be honest, you don’t know what to do. Doing this show has been a wealth of knowledge for me. If you go to a zoo, you might see the animals but you don’t know how they function day to day. There’s nothing better for me, I love it.’

He went on: ‘I always get my kids out on the farm. Ace is almost five so he’s out there helping me. He’s still enthusiastic so long may that continue.

‘I do various different shows encouraging farming. We need people to go into those industries.’

JB married Chloe Tangney in 2014 and is father to Ace, four, and Chiara, who is nearly one.

Oritsé, meanwhile, has had a trying 2019 – with his home falling victim to a fire just days after being cleared of rape.

Police launched an arson probe into the blaze at his £3million mansion, days after charges were dropped on the star, 32, whose six-bedroom home was ravished by fire, with around 70 firefighters called to tackle the huge blaze in June.

Unfortunately they could do nothing to prevent the three-storey property’s roof being destroyed. No one was injured in the inferno.

The lavish property, in Croydon, south London, was once owned by legendary late comedian Ronnie Corbett and featured a hot tub in the bedroom, outdoor swimming pool and a ping pong table.

The former X Factor runner-up had previously been accused of launching a sex attack on a 20-year-old tattoo artist fan at a hotel room, after allegedly plying her and two friends with alcohol on December 2, 2016.

Friend and tour manager Jamien Nagadhana, 32, was also charged with sexual touching and assault by penetration of the same woman at the pair’s room in Wolverhampton’s Ramada Hotel.

A jury of eight women and four men took two hours and 17 minutes to find Williams and Nagadhana not guilty of all charges following a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court earlier this summer.
