The blonde beauty, 50 – best known for her decade on Friends – is seen struggling to stay relevant as she ages in front of her fans in the first official trailer shared on Monday morning.

And Reese Witherspoon plays the slightly naive but fresh-faced newbie who could steal her throne.

They had it all: Aniston's cohost, played by Steve Carell, is fired from the show. To make matters worse, they are also married

Also seen in the clip is Steve Carell as Jennifer’s fired co-host Mitch Kessler – who also happens to be her husband.

He smashes his TV after he learns he has been let go. And he feels he has done nothing wrong.

Also seen is Billy Crudup as the steely producer who is all about ratings.

The trailer begins with Aniston’s character on the air lying about what she knows about the elimination of Carell’s veteran TV host after a ‘scandal’ has surfaced. 

She is then seen as the belle of morning TV as she is treated like a queen.

But it’s obvious that the producers feel she is getting too old to hold America’s attention as they get ready for work. It is said that she has passed her ‘sell-by date.’

And in comes Reese’s TV star who does not fit in a cookie cutter mold. She is seen getting groomed for the show with various wardrobe changes and new hairstyles.

Aniston and Witherspoon are seen sitting down face to face for an interview and it gets tense as Reese says that TV needs honest women.

It has already been established that Aniston’s TV star is far from honest, which makes her on edge as Reese stares her down.

But then Witherspoon proves she is not out to bury the ageing host as she adds ‘like you,’ making it seem as if she is on Team Vet.

But audiences are starting to like Reese more than Jennifer and the battle begins.

Toward the end of the clip, Aniston is seen telling the board of directors that oversee her show – who seem to be all male – that they have been in charge for too long and she is taking control now in what appears to be a very obvious nod toward the women’s movement.

The show kicks off in the fall.

The Apple synopsis reads: What happens when the people you trust to tell the truth prove themselves to be dishonest? The Morning Show follows the free fall of an early morning newscast in the wake of a scandal, and its struggle to survive in an era when news arrives in the palm of your hand.

Also in the cast are Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Bel Powley and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

The series is based on journalist Brian Stelter’s book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV.
