‘I didn’t realise until too late’: John Farnham, 70, opens up about ‘severe’ health scare after being forced to cancel Australian tour in April

John Farnham caused concern among fans in April, after he was forced to cancel his Australian tour at the last minute while admitted to hospital.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph on Sunday, the 70-year-old explained he had a ‘severe’ kidney infection and was ‘very dehydrated’ amid the health scare.

‘I didn’t realise until too late. I’d been feeling uncomfortable. My wife Jill had been telling me to go to the doctor,’ explained the singer.

Rather than seek medical help, John explained that he powered through the pain and believed ‘it’ll be fine’ – until he was later rushed to hospital.

‘I was very unwell there for a while,’ he added, stating that he is ‘good now’ and ‘it gave me a wake-up call to look after myself a bit more.’

The kidney infection developed after undergoing an unknown surgical procedure three months prior, where he was forced to cancel more shows at the time.
