Katherine Jenkins worries she’ll be labelled a diva due to vow of SILENCE when she’s on tour… and she even uses sign language to communicate with her children

She’s currently touring around the UK and has embarked on a vow of silence behind-the-scenes in a bid to preseve her voice.

But Katherine Jenkins broke her resolution to put in an appearance on Thursday’s installment of This Morning, chatting to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield about how she copes on the road.

The Welsh singing sensation, 38, confessed that while some people think she’s being a ‘diva’, it’s a fun process because she can communicate with her children via sign language.

Detailing her strict vow of silence, Katherine said: ‘It’s a muscle so you have to rest it and unfortunately chatting doesn’t rest it, whispering doesn’t rest it, so when I get off stage I don’t speak.

‘Today would normally be a day off so I wouldn’t speak… I always think when I’m not speaking that they’ll think I’m being diva-ish.’

Her young children – Aaliyah Reign, three, and Xander, 14 months, who she raises with husband Andrew Levitas – are big fans of the method, however.

Katherine laughed: ‘They think it’s a game! When I get up in the morning, my daughter says, “Mummy are you talking today?” It’s a massive game of charades.’

The mezzo-soprano discussed her ’emotional’ album, Guiding Light, saying that performing her new music is special because of how personal it is.

She said: ‘It’s an emotional album, I was pregnant when I was choosing the songs and I had Xander when I was recording.

‘I didn’t mean to wrote him a song but he had fallen asleep in my arms at the time and I felt overwhelming love so I decided to write him a song.’

Katherine previously revealed that she feels her singing voice has changed since having kids, and she once again insisted it was better than ever.

The star explained ‘It has, I didn’t believe it. Because the relaxing hormone that goes into your body relaxes your vocal chords and it makes you sound better.’

The singer looked lovely for her interview, brightening up the studio in a blue dress with a pretty floral pattern.

The star recently discussed her love for her children, claiming her baby son has already started showing signs of following in her footsteps.

Admitting the tiny tot has her ‘wrapped around his little finger’, Katherine told HELLO! magazine: ‘He’s very chilled, calm and has a sense of humour.

‘He tries to make you laugh. And he’s already singing. Not anything in particular, but he’s using his voice to sing.’

Katherine revealed welcoming her second child felt different – but she loves him just as much as her first.

‘When you have your first child, your heart expands from zero to 100 and you feel elated,’ the beauty explained.’
