Kelly Ripa calls The Bachelor franchise ‘disgusting’ and ‘creepy’

Kelly Ripa is slammed by Bachelor host Chris Harrison and show creator Mike Fleiss after she called the franchise ‘disgusting’ and ‘creepy’

Kelly Ripa didn’t hold back about what she really thinks of The Bachelor franchise on Tuesday’s episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan.

The TV host revealed she’s never liked the ABC show and called it ‘disgusting’, sparking a reaction from the host of the series Chris Harrison as well as the show’s creator Mike Fleiss.

Ripa’s remarks came when co-host Ryan Seacrest announced that the new Bachelorette Hannah Brown would be appearing on their talk show this week.

Initially confusing Brown with Cassie Randolph – Colton Underwood’s fiancee and the winner of the last season of The Bachelor – Ripa, 48, said: ‘Oh, it’s an entirely different person?

‘You know how I feel about this show. It disgusts me. I can’t stand the idea of 25 exceptional women fighting over one, ordinary fella, in my opinion. You know how I feel ladies! We are too special to be arguing over a guy.’

The audience cheered as she added, ‘having said that, all you women watch that gross, gross show.’

As Seacrest went on to recap the events of Monday night’s Bachelorette premiere, Ripa seemed even less interested and called the female version ‘just as creepy but in a completely different way,’ to the original Bachelor series. ‘I was like, ‘Ew, eww, ewww.”‘

Of Brown’s upcoming appearance on the show on Thursday Ripa joked, ‘I can’t wait to talk her out of it!’

Harrison, who has hosted The Bachelor since the beginning, was the first to respond on Tuesday night and tweeted: ‘Look out #BachelorNation ⁦@KellyRipa⁩ is coming after you and your ‘disgusting’ Monday night habit.’

Brown originally appeared on season 23 of The Bachelor where she competed for Colton’s heart.

Season 15 of The Bachelorette kicked off on Monday and saw Brown meet her 30 suitors before kicking one of the show straight away for having a secret girlfriend.
