Love Island: Ovie ‘had secret unaired clash with the boys as he defended Amber’

He’s become a huge favourite among fans thanks to his laid-back persona.

But Love Island‘s Ovie Soko had a dramatic clash with the boys as he tried to defend Amber Gill after they returned from Casa Amor, ex-Islander Jourdan Riane has revealed.

Speaking on the Yellow Cup podcast Jourdan said Ovie’s attempts to defend Amber ‘didn’t go down well’ with the boys in the villa, as he tried to back her up after she was dumped by Michael Griffiths.

Jourdan explained that Ovie had given Amber a motivating chat as she prepared to re-enter the villa, clueless to the fact that Michael had recoupled with Joanna Chimonides.

Admitting the villa could sometimes be a battle of egos, Ovie’s decision to defend Amber caused tension among the other boys.

She explained: ‘Ovie doesn’t have time for the drama and that’s why they were able to portray him as chill, but he is still a guy in the villa and every guy in the villa has their moments. and we’ve just only seen his chilled ones.’

‘He meant it with the best of intentions, he genuinely meant it with the good of his heart, he meant it in away of defending the girls, Amber in particular. It just wasn’t perceived in the best way by the rest of the boys, it didn’t go down too well.’

‘It was rectified as far as I know, every boy in there has had moments where they have an ego battle with each other in a house of men the same age.

‘I just think there are moments in there that are not aired and others that take the spotlight – I think if they did air that people would have liked him even more.

Pushed for more details, Jourdan added: ‘In the recoupling [Amber] was stood there alone and he was just like: ”That’s it, you’re a boss, you’ve got this.”

‘It was when they came back to the villa after Casa Amor, it just didn’t go down very well but I know he meant it in the best way. It could have turned into something bigger but thankfully it was a case of ”just leave it”

Jourdan then admitted that while many viewers were baffled to see Ovie break down in tears at the news that George Rains had been dumped, the pair did form a close bond in an attempt to steer clear of drama in the villa.

‘The three of them kept themselves away from everyone, he meant those tears,’ she added.
