She said: ‘It was hard watching her last night, I cried on the settee. I know she’s struggling with the whole situation. I was shocked when Michael got up, but he was just getting her tissues.

‘I think Amber will realise that now (that Michael doesn’t have feelings for her) and I don’t think she will go back. I don’t know whether he’s playing a bit of a game. I think he should have been more open with her.’

Michael and Amber had previously appeared to be one of the villa’s most rock-solid couples before Casa Amor, which saw the hunk get his head turned by Joanna.

Joanna was later dumped from the villa, leaving Michael single.

BFF Martin questioned Michael’s feelings for Joanna, saying: ‘It goes to show he’s playing a game, as if he really liked Joanna then he should have walked then.’

Amber is now coupled up with basketball player Ovie, 28, with Vanessa and Martin rooting for the pair to spark up a romance.

Martin said: ‘I think they both could be the first-ever friendship winners on Love Island. He’s lovely.

‘When her and Michael started off, they started off as friends. It grew and it progressed and it was natural and that’s why I think the public connected with them. I don’t know, I think she’s got such a brotherly connection with him (Ovie).’

Tuesday’s episode saw Amber preparing for a date with new bombshell Greg, with Vanessa keeping an open mind about romance between the pair.

She said: ‘If he makes her laugh, because that’s what she likes, she likes the banter. So fingers crossed there might be something there.’

‘I think it’s been a fantastic experience for her [Amber], because she is very guarded and I think everybody saw that at the beginning. And she’s been on an emotional rollercoaster. She’s had probably one of the best stories in there.

On Sunday’s show, just hours before Joanna was booted out from the island in a shock twist, Amber, admitted she still had feelings for Michael, but he made it painfully clear that he was no longer interested in her.

Michael claimed for weeks that he was happy with Joanna – and even continued to do so following her departure – but his co-stars weren’t convinced.

And, in a dramatic U-turn Michael set to air on Wednesday night’s episode, the Liverpudlian hunk pulls the Geordie beauty for a chat tonight to confess his true feeling after her date with Greg made him envious.

The firefighter also admits to the lads that he still has feelings for Amber.

At the end of Tuesday night’s show, Amber finally landed a date as she was invited to join hunky newcomer Greg O’Shea in the hideaway.

The Newcastle beauty was delighted to have some male attention after being left in tears by a clash with Michael earlier in the show.

At the end of the show, Amber was delighted to received a text message which read: ‘Don’t worry Amber. The boys aren’t having all the fun. Greg is waiting for you on the Hideaway terrace. #guarddown #openminded.’

As the beauty rushed to enjoy her evening with the Irish arrival, she admitted being ‘torn’ about her feelings.

Regardless Amber excited dashed into the hideaway, where Greg excitedly awaited to greet her.

And in a preview for the next show, he added that Amber was absolutely his ‘first choice,’ and added she deserved ‘to be spoiled’ after a difficult few weeks.

It came after Amber was left in tears earlier in the show as she and Michael tried to clear the air following their tense conversation the previous evening.

The fireman had insisted he wasn’t interested in rekindling their romance after the departure of his partner Joanna, but his assertive demeanour – and demand that she ‘sit down’ – did not go down well with Amber or the rest of the villa.

Amber told Michael: ‘I just think you really need to think about the way you speak to me, because it comes across really badly.

‘I knew you before and you never spoke to me in a way that made me feel upset.’

Michael says ‘I don’t actually want to hurt you and I never have. Right now, it seems that I take all of my frustration out on you.’

Breaking down in tears, Amber added: ‘Every time you speak to me, you make us feel like a piece of s**t.’

And while it seemed Michael was about to walk out of the lounge and leave Amber sobbing, in reality he was just grabbing a box of tissues.

Eventually the pair seemed to reach a common ground, and somewhat ended the chat on amicable.

When it was revealed Amber was going a date with Michael, he seemed indifferent to the news as he told her to ‘have a good time’ while eating cereal.

Love Island continues on Wednesday at 9pm on ITV.
