With programming airing five nights a week and no set format, you never quite know what will happen on each episode of CBS’ Love Island.
Tuesday night’s episode teased the arrival of Big Brother 20 star Winston Hines, but the big story was a surprise re-coupling that happened just before Winston’s arrival.
The re-coupling lead to TWO GIRLS leaving the island surprisingly, Alana and Mallory, after their guys, Yamen and Weston, chose the two new girls, Christen and Katrina in the re-coupling.
Goodbye: The re-coupling lead to TWO GIRLS leaving the island surprisingly, Alana and Mallory, after their guys, Yamen and Weston, chose the two new girls, Christen and Katrina in the re-coupling
It’s no coincidence that the re-coupling came a night after both Alana and Mallory had to spend the night in the Hideaway, after Christen chose Yamen and Katrina chose Weston after they were instructed to swap places with girls who were already coupled up.
After Christen made her decision, Alana was not happy, stating, ‘I’m mad as hell. I’m mad as hell. Christen just picked Yamen to basically take my spot.’
After she made her choice, Christen talks to Alana, telling her, ‘I just wanted to be up front. I probably should have said something.’
Christen says she didn’t expect Alana to be ‘cool’ with it, and Alana is real with her, saying she’s not happy but she respects her saying something like that.
Weston hugs Mallory, says he doesn’t want her to be upset with him and she says it’s not his fault, but Mallory is clearly upset, saying in confessional, ‘My love island journey is unfolding and it’s falling to pieces.’
Mallory doesn’t think Katrina is a good fit for Weston, adding, ‘I think she’s going after what’s safe. I really do.’
Alana and Mallory head to the Hideaway, with Alana stating in confession, ‘I wanted to go to the Hideaway with Yamen. Not with no Mallory.’
Weston toasts with Katrina, who says in confession, ‘I feel like I’m just going with the flow with Weston tonight, but since we’re vibing so hard… I don’t wanna jinx anything.’
Christen and Yamen are chilling, she says the guys she’s into have to be laid back goofy but not trying to hard.
Meanwhile in the hideaway, Mallory and Alana are trying to relax in matching orange robes, with Alana adding, ‘Today kinda bugged me.’

Christen and Katrina are chatting while brushing their teeth – Katrina says she feels better, before Yamen and Christen are seen spooning/cuddling after the lights go out.
The next morning, Katrina sings good morning song to Weston, with Katrina admitting, ‘At night I like to be the big spoon,’ with Weston adding, ‘That’s the best thing I heard in my life.’
Alana asks Yamen how the night was, saying it was good, but Yamen quickly changes the subject, saying that he knows Weston had a good time.
Mallory asks Alexandra what happened last night but she said she doesn’t remember, while Alana says to Caro and Kyra that she doesn’t wanna get too comfortable with this situation.
Katrina walks in and Mallory closes the door so Katrina can’t hear, while Weston says he talked to Mallory for like 30 seconds, adding, ‘She’s not happy I giving her full attention.’
Weston also talks about Mallory in confession, stating, ‘She didn’t really open up to anyone or try anything.’
Weston gets a text, which reveals some surprising news – there will be a re-coupling tonight.
‘Islanders, Tonight there will be a recoupling in which the boys will choose which girls they want to couple up with. The two girls not picked to be in a couple will be at risk of leaving the island. #GirlBye’ the text read.
Alana says, ‘Tonight’s recoupling will really help see if we were on the same page. Basically tonight is the night to se if we’re really on the same page.’
Weston chat with Yamen and Cashel. Yamen says the night went good. Says it was effortless, more of a vibe. ‘I think there could be a deep connection. I feel she’s emotionally educated.’
With Alana, he adds, ‘I just think things are going kinda slow. I do have some reservations about her age and not being in any relationships.’
Weston chimes in and says, ‘My decision’s not too crazy.’ Cashel says that the vibe he got with Katrina that she is looking for a husband now.
Katrina and Mallory chat, with Katrina telling her, ‘I felt like I could say anything I wanted and no judgment.’
Mallory says ‘He came here for love, good for him, it sucks for me but I could find another guy.’
Katrina says there’s no chance of any other guy she’d be interested in, especially after last night, putting all of her Love Island eggs into one basket, so to speak.
Yamen talks with Alana and asks how she’s feeling, stating, ‘I feel like today’s a new day and I don’t want to get too in my head.’
In confession she adds, ‘I would rather focus on nothing and just having a happy day.’
Yamen says she opened up a lot and let her personality show, but he still hasn’t made a final decision about the re-coupling quite yet.
‘I don’t know anything yet. I definitely wanna still try to explore that a little bit more today,’ he said, adding in confession, ‘I don’t wanna make someone unhappy… and that’s gonna happen today, someone’s gonna be unhappy.’
Cashel chats with Kyra, asking if she’s let her guard down around her. She says no but he says he has around her.
‘It’s a two-way street. We could go somewhere if you wanted to,’ Cashel says. ‘I’m an open book and I wanna hear all about you.’
In confession Kyra says she’s not sure she feels it with Cashel.
‘It’s been so hard for me when I fully let myself go there so for going there it’s super scary.’
In confession, Kyra adds, ‘Usually at this point, where I am at with Cash, I would run away with that, but I don’t have that choice in here.’

A troubled Yamen says, ‘I genuinely was trying to form a deeper connection but it just wasn’t working for me. She just fits my life a little bit better.’
