It was announced last week that the show favourite, who finished in fourth with her partner Curtis Pritchard, had scooped the coveted new job.

During her debut, she professed: ‘I’m no nonsense. I say it like it is’, after which she was praised for the sage advice she dished out to callers.

One call came from a lovelorn viewer, who revealed she was struggling to move on from a man who she has been in love for 15 years.

Maura responded: ‘This is very hard when you are love with someone. The only thing you can do is cut contact because you will get over it.’
