‘I’d put on a few kilos’: The Bachelor Matt Agnew reveals his weight struggles and admits he often skips meals to keep in shape

Matt Agnew has been more than willing to strip shirtless for the cameras on The Bachelor Australia.

But the 32-year-old has revealed it wasn’t easy to get into shape before filming, as he’d put on weight before signing up for the show.

Speaking to the Courier-Mail on Sunday, the astrophysicist said he’d resorted to an extreme diet to drop the extra kilos he’d put on while studying at university.

Speaking to the publication, Matt explained: ‘I literally just couldn’t get to the gym as often. I just kind of put on a few kilos.’

He continued: ‘Leading up to submitting the PhD dissertation there was a lot of work obviously. I was running low on time [to work out].’

However, once his doctorate in philosophy was out of way, he admitted to going to extreme lengths to get himself into shape fast.

The Bachelor admitted to following an intermittent fasting regimen – where he eats all his daily meals in ‘4-6 hours’.

‘So I usually only really have coffees, I don’t do breakfast. Sometimes I’ll skip lunch,’ he recently told Now To Love.

‘I eat in a smaller window, sometimes only 4-6 hours in the evening. They’re a lot of proteins, lean meats, salads, yogurts.’

The hunk also revealed that once his role on the show was confirmed, he decided to ramp up his fitness regimen too.

‘In terms of working out, I run three times a week. Just short runs 4-6kms and lift [weights] four times a week’, he said.
