‘After they performed the gig in Manchester last month, Jess ended up partying with Mel in her dressing room until 7am. They became so close while on tour that there were whispers behind the scenes that they were having a secret romance.
‘But Mel is adamant they’re just pals. Although there are 15 years between them Mel and Jess discovered they were on a very similar wavelength. Both of them are straight-talking, and of course Mel enjoyed having her ego stroked by Jess’.

The singer, 37, spoke exclusively to MailOnline at the launch of the 2019 McDonald’s Football Mum of the Year Awards last month, and she also revealed that her ‘incredible’ friendship with former bandmates Cheryl and Nicola Roberts is in a whole new ‘phase of their life’.
Kimberley met Cheryl, 35, and Nicola, 33, in 2002 on Popstars: The Rivals and they went on to have an incredible career in the successful girlband Girls Aloud.
However, despite knowing each other for almost 17 years, the mother-of-two has revealed that they still hang out and that their ‘incredible friendship’ is in a whole new ‘phase of life’, especially now Cheryl has her son, Bear, two.
She said: ‘I think it’s kind of incredible really it’s been such a long time since the beginning of Girls Aloud, what, 17 years or so? Now we’re in a whole new phase of our lives.’

Kimberley went on to add that she has merged all her friends in the ‘mummy zone’ and that they all get together for special events.
She added: ‘As I am with all my friends that I’ve grown up with, we’re all in that mummy zone. We all kind of merge together, all of my friends know each other, we all get together for the kids’ birthdays and stuff. It’s just a new phase of life, it’s lovely to do it together.’
Talking about whether having kids has deepened her friendship with Cheryl and Nicola, she continued: ‘I think kids do that anyway, they put you on a different emotional level, I think it’s just nice that all mums have an understanding. It’s when you become a mum, you become part of a club, you understand what that means… it does take it to another level I guess.’
