Piers Morgan leaves viewers in hysterics with METLDOWN over vegan Percy Pigs on GMB… and reveals meat-loving diet has caused him to gain two inches on his waistline

M&S has angered customers by secretly turning all versions of their popular Percy Pigs sweets vegetarian.

And Piers Morgan lost his cool on Wednesday’s edition of Good Morning Britain when he embarked on a passionate rant about the marketing decision, shouting that vegans need to ‘get their own sweets’.

The 54-year-old TV host had viewers in stitches with his dramatic speech – especially since he also confessed he had never actually had a regular version of the gummy fruit treats.

He also confessed that his meat-heavy diet had caused him to gain two stone on his waistline.

Piers took part in a taste test, spitting out the sweets and likening it to ‘washing up liquid’, while weather girl Charlotte Tobin confessed she couldn’t actually taste the difference.

But it was the principle of pandering to vegans and vegetarians by rolling out gelatin-free snacks across the board that seemed to irk Piers the most.

During a debate about changing the rules of Instagram, Piers brought up the Percy Pig dilemma while complaining about ‘Snowflakes’ kicking up a fuss.

He continued: ‘Seriously, go and get sweets that aren’t called Percy Pig.

‘Go and get ones called Kale Nicies which taste disgusting but you can all feel happy because they’re made of kale. Leave our pig sweets alone you people.’

Susanna asked him: ‘Have you ever eaten a Percy Pig?’

‘No, but I’m about to eat them all the time, the old fashioned gelatine ones. You think they are pigs made of no meat? Utterly ridiculous’, he said.

Piers also reveled that his own meat-heavy diet had caused him to gain two inches around his waistline.

Viewers were on the whole amused by the rant, taking to Twitter in their droves to express their feelings about the segment.

One shared, ‘@piersmorgan your rant about Percy Pig sweets had me howling. #vegansgetyourownsweets’, while another posted, ‘@piersmorgan “get your own kale sweets!! Leave percy pig alone!!” honestly YOU make morning TV!!!’

However, others were keen to point out that the gelatin-free version had existed for years.

‘Haven’t non-gelatine/vegetarian Percy Pigs been about for at least 10 years? Why is this now news?,’ one GMB viewer wrote.
