Earlier that night Priyanka and Nick brought the bling to the Met Gala, with the Quantico dressed in a whimsical sheer gown with ruffles and a very high leg split.

Sporting a grand crown, the beauty – who is pals with Meghan Markle – was joined by her husband, 26-year-old singer Nick, who wore a white suit.

Priyanka revealed plenty of leg, amid a rainbow-hued feather trim on her skirt. She had a matching cape over her silver cage and sheer top.

The cute couple were co-ordinated all the day down to their silver glitter footwear, which was possibly a nod to Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz in keeping with the camp theme of the night; The original L. Frank Baum novel has magical silver shoes not ruby.

Priyanka was glammed up to the max, styling her hair in voluminous back-combed waves.

Her make-up was expertly applied, with a deep berry lip.

Her eye-make up was futuristic, featuring a silver line and plum shade and her eyebrows had a white-silver pomade.

The Met Gala holds a special significance for Priyanka and Nick as it was the first time she and her now-husband walked a red carpet together.

And the Quantico actress was indulging in some nostalgia ahead of Monday’s gala by sharing a set of pictures of her and Nick  from the 2017 ball on Instagram.

As for the children to whom Chopra anticipates telling their love story, the actress told People last year she wants kids within the next 10 years.

‘Well, hopefully, earlier than that,’ she said, adding: ‘I’m very fond of children and I want to be able to do that.’

She certainly might be feeling a little broody on Monday as her friend Meghan Markle welcomed a baby boy with husband Prince Harry.

Priyanka, who attended their wedding, posted her congratulatory message to Instagram on Monday.

Met Gala 2019 theme: So what does ‘Notes on Camp’ mean…?

Lady Gaga's dream theme! The pop star embraced 'camp' on the Met Gala red carpet

Lady Gaga’s dream theme! The pop star embraced ‘camp’ on the Met Gala red carpet

So what exactly is ‘camp’?

The museum’s exhibition is based on ‘Notes on Camp,’ an essay written in 1964 by American author Susan Sontag.

‘Camp is by nature subversive (…) confronting and challenging the status quo,’ the Costume Institute’s head curator Andrew Bolton said Monday at a press event about the exhibition before the gala.

‘In the end, the purpose of camp is to put a smile on our faces and a warm glow in our hearts.’

Some of the items in the exhibition might best explain the theme: the ‘swan dress’ worn by Bjork to the Oscars, a glittering costume worn by flamboyant US singer Liberace, a shower head necklace designed by the late Karl Lagerfeld for Chloe in the 1980s.

‘We’re experiencing a resurgence of camp — not just in fashion, but in culture in general,’ said Bolton.

‘Camp tends to come to the fore in moments of social and political instability. The 1960s was one such moment as were the 1980s.’

The exhibition ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’ — a play on the title of Sontag’s essay — formally opens at the Met on Thursday and runs through September 8.

‘The story I’ll definitely tell our future kids… How I MET your father,’ she wrote, adding several red heart emojis.

Priyanka and Nick weren’t an official couple when they posed together on the red carpet that year, but speculation was sparked that perhaps romance was brewing between the two.

Chopra, however, denied a spark at the time, telling Jimmy Kimmel, ‘We were both wearing Ralph Lauren! And we decided to go together because it was fun.’

Almost a year later, the pair were engaged in July 2018 after two months of dating.

They tied the knot last December with an extravagant wedding celebration that spanned three days in India.

The couple will return to the Met Gala this year as guests and co-hosts in what will be a ‘full-circle moment,’ Nick recently told Entertainment Tonight.

The Met Gala is the annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and is the most glittery and exclusive event on the New York fashion calendar.

It is famous for attracting luminaries of Hollywood, of fashion, music, sports, TV and the stage for an evening of fashion and charity to mark the museum’s spring exhibit.

This year, the exhibit and gala are dedicated to the idea of ‘camp,’ as defined by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay Notes on ‘Camp.’

The Met Gala, formally known as the Costume Institute Benefit, is always chaired by a team of high-wattage celebrities, and this year is no exception.

The event is chaired by pop star and actress-of-the-moment Lady Gaga, tennis star Serena Williams, and singer Harry Styles, along with Gucci designer Alessandro Michele and, as always, Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Wintour said she believes this year’s Met Gala to be about ‘self expression’ and ‘individuality’, noting that she wanted to see ‘outrageous, fun, tongue in cheek’ fashion on the red carpet.

Meant to be! It was the first time she and her now-husband walked a red carpet together and she says that they weren't a couple at the time (pictured May 1 2017)

The new theme seems decidedly more lighthearted than last year’s hugely successful Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, about the relationship between fashion and Catholicism.

That sumptuous, sprawling show drew more visitors than any Costume Institute exhibit — more than 1.3 million to the Met’s main Fifth Avenue location, and nearly 200,000 to its Cloisters branch — and indeed was one of the most attended shows in the museum’s history.

‘Fashion is the most overt and enduring conduit of the camp aesthetic,’ said Andrew Bolton, curator in charge of the Costume Institute and creator of its blockbuster shows. Bolton said the 2019 show would ‘advance creative and critical dialogue about the ongoing and ever-evolving impact of camp on fashion.’

The exhibit will feature approximately 175 objects, not only clothing but also sculptures, paintings, and drawings.

Designers to be featured in the show include: Cristóbal Balenciaga, Thom Browne, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Charles James, Christian Lacroix, Karl Lagerfeld, Prada, Versace and many more.

The Camp: Notes on Fashion exhibit will run from May 9 through Sept. 8.

The annual Met Gala extravaganza raises money for the museum’s Costume Institute kicks off the Met’s annual major fashion exhibition — look out, because the theme is ‘camp.’

And the more outrageous the outfit, the better for the Met Gala red carpet, where the A-listers strut their stuff, usually in the most eye-popping ensemble they can find to match the theme.

Last year, Rihanna showed up in full papal-esque regalia, and Madonna wore a regal black gown – with a see-through cross in the bodice – to go along with the ‘Heavenly Bodies’ concept.

Want a seat? They go for $35,000 a piece.

Attendance is by invitation only, and word has it that Vogue editor extraordinaire Anna Wintour has the final say over each person on the guest list.

Organizers did reveal a smattering of names last month — members of the so-called ‘host committee’ — and so expect to see Jennifer Lopez, Bradley Cooper, Katy Perry and Priyanka Chopra.

Wintour co-chairs the event this year with an eclectic mix of boldface names — Gucci designer Alessandro Michele, pop diva Lady Gaga, British singer Harry Styles and tennis superstar Serena Williams.
